Orbital/Ocular/Eye Prosthetics
This page provides an overview of orbital and ocular prosthetics that can be fit. An Ocular component involves just the eyeball or globe, whereas an orbital is where surrounding tissue are missing and require the creation of a custom ocular component and a separate integrated prosthesis that houses the artificial eye.
Each prosthesis is handcrafted from start to finish. In this picture a prosthesis is being readied to test for initial color match.

Ocular Prosthetics
A small but meaningful restorationAn ocular prosthesis replaces just eye or globe but doesn't include the lid or any surrounding tissue. They can be removed for care, cleaning and hygiene. The are custom made for each patient to match in color, detail and size. They are retained in place by the patient's own lids.Fitting begins either with a soft impression of the inside of the eyes socket or can be started with a wax model that approximates the shape of the eye. The wax models can be modified and can establish approximate iris size and gaze.An iris will be painted to simulate patient eyes color and details and average pupil size determined. It's all put together, with a final polish. Adjustments can be made to the final piece as well.
