Auricular/Ear Prosthetics
An ear/auricular prosthesis may be considered a viable option due to loss from cancer, accidents, or birth defects. A sense of artistry and proportion can be achieved for a patient from a rare blend of hard-to-find skills to address this need. Below is an overview of custom ear prosthetics to begin informing you, and you can decide if contacting Genesis is a good next step.
Facial Prosthetics Restore Not Only a Patient's Image, but Function Too
An ear prosthesis can enable a patient to wear glasses or improve hearing. A good prosthesis seeks to go unnoticed wherever possible.
Attention to detail is important to achieve a good result. Among other things, achieving the best possible margin integrity is essential. Good color is also critical. Anaplastologists should have a strong sense of artistry as well as technical ability.
Genesis provides quality maxillofacial prosthetic care for a variety of needs. We fit eyes, ears, and noses, among other items. Each is handcrafted to meet each individual's needs. They are custom-made to match the patient in as many details as possible, including color matching and painting. We work with bone-anchored implant systems being implemented by more and more maxillofacial surgeons, as an alternative to adhesives. These implants work with magnetic and clip systems.

A Good Outcome Decreases Detection and Increases Anonymity
A lost portion of an ear (above) can be restored, as well as a complete ear. This patient grew his hair long to hide the loss. The defect can be improved with a good prosthesis, restoring a renewed sense of confidence. You can see the dramatic change as he "hid" the issue with long hair, but returned to cutting his hair as he cut it before the loss, restoring his confidence and outlook! What a difference!
Don't Presume All Prosthetists Can Do the Same Kind or Quality of Work
It's not uncommon that we see patients with previous "attempts" from other prosthetists that have led to mixed results. This patient received a mail-order piece from a limb prosthetist that had the ear itself fabricated elsewhere (comparisons on the upper right corner). You can see the before-and-after images regarding the value of getting qualified care! A wax model test was made (lower left picture) to fit the prosthesis for a hearing aid that increased function as well as appearance. All aspects of the prosthesis were made by me, with input from the patient at every step along the way. Patients need a prosthetist that actually does the work rather than one that orders through the mail from a stranger. A before-and-after closeup comparison is shown in the upper right of this set of pictures.
